Salute to the American Worker

A salute to those who produce a product, provide a service, feed a family, and contribute to the strength and prosperity of our great country.
The vital force of labor [has] added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pay tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation's strength, freedom, and leadership — the American worker. ~ U.S. D.O.L.

Everyone, please have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend.

Hi Mary, I think so too. That Norman Rockwell poster is just perfect. Old Rosie has just the right amount of attitude:)

Hi Gail. Yes, I plan to work like crazy this weekend. I'll be doubly appreciating American labor--mine. You have a good one too.

Just think, it will officially be the end of summer.

Have a great holiday weekend and thanks for your most honorable "Salute to the American Worker."

Try not to be too laborious this weekend. :~)

Marnie,

Thank you for your visit & your nice comment. I have really enjoyed looking at your gorgeous nature & flower photos...and the pictures of your animals. You live in such a beautiful place!

Moontown Rd. in Bama sounds familiar, but I really don't remember it.

BTW, when I was in my teens, I had horses. Did a little showing in Western Pleasure & Horsemanship. Those were some of the best years of my life.

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Great Labor Day tribute Marnie! I love those vintage posters. I have a reproduction framed of a old Navy recruiting poster w/the woman in the sailor hat & uniform. Cool stuff.

Perfect post and great tribute to all the hard working people in the world Marnie. The vintage posters are fantastic. I love stuff like that! Hope you get to relax a little over the Labor Day holiday too.

Great salute! I was hoping to use Monday to do some much needed Fall cleaning around here, but now that I'm missing work on Wednesday to take Z for his MRI, I'm going to have to go in to work on Monday instead.

Troutbirder, thank you.

Hi Carla, as Dickens said, "It was the best of times..."

We probably lived about 20-miles apart. Too bad we never met.

Thanks Beckie, hope your weekend was great.

Hi Rose,
Women don't ever get enough credit;)

Hi PGL, I like the Rosie posters too. Especially the Rockwell one.

Hi Christy, yes, nobody hurries a cat. They march to their own drum.
*****************************

Hi Tina, hope your Labor Day weekend was everything you hoped.
******************************

Hey DP, I agree women can do anything. I just wish we didn't have to keep reminding everyone--and ourselves;)

Hi Kathleen. I did relax and hope you did as well. I love vintage art work too.

Hi Dog Geek, the weekend must have been kind of stressful for you. Working plus the thing with Z hanging over your head.

Everyone who loves animals goes through these terrible times far to frequently.
**************************

Hey Sharon, I knew you would love those vintage Rosie posters.

***************************

Flydragon, yes we have, but still we keep having to remind some. Women are still underpaid for doing the same jobs.

Hi Gail. I've been hearing it too. The unofficial start of fall. When I was in school, we always went back around the first Wed or Thurs in Sept. Now kids around here went back to school the third and forth weeks in Aug.
