The problem with cats is that they get the exact same look on their face whether they see a moth or an axe-murderer. ~ Paula Poundstone

On Saturday mornings we lay on the flower garden bedspread and watch Cesar Millan on TV.  It's currently our favorite show, comedy, drama, action, adventure, and a handsome cast of four legged characters.  There is always a happy ending, we can't ask for more than that.

Cats are the ultimate narcissists. You can tell this because of all the time they spend on personal grooming. Dogs aren't like this. A dog's idea of personal grooming is to roll on a dead fish. ~James Gorman

Cats are smarter than dogs. You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through snow. ~Jeff Valdez

A friend gave me these campanula.  She says they spread quickly.  I hope that's a good thing:)

My feathered garden insecticide.

Little brown jugs how I love thee.

My start came from my father's garden.  This Canadian ginger is happy growing in dark, dry places where other  plants have failed me. There are many varieties, the American ginger has smaller leaves and the growth is not as dense.  It would be nice to add the American variety to my garden but I can't find it locally.  The Japanese have ginger societies like we have hosta societies here.

My Japanese tree lilac is a magnate for pollinating insects.  All those  dark specks are some type of pollinating bee or wasp.  Sometimes, butterflies will also visit the blooms and in the winter, cardinals eat the seeds.  The fragrance is intense, I like it although some people don't.  This tree is just outside my bedroom window so the fragrance perfumes the bedroom on June evenings.

The house plants have been sent to summer camp.  Some are complaining about all the rain but that's summer camp for you, you just have to rough it no matter what.

I love your Campanula glomerata, as well as your cute kitty -- and the cat quotes are fun too! What a pretty time of year it is in our gardens, and it's nice to have our furry friends to enjoy them with us. =^_^= (that's as close to a cat as I can make with my keyboard...) :-) -Beth

OK, ahem, I admit it, I'm a dog lover. Loyalty is a big item with me...:)

I love all your quotes, Marnie:) With both cats and dogs in our house, I can say these quotes really speak the truth. None of the dogs have rolled over a dead fish yet, but Sophie did get into raccoon scat or some such thing one time. That took a lot of deodorizing dog shampoo! One good thing about all the rain the last few weeks--I haven't had to water much.

I love those Japanese tree lilacs! There are tons in Maine but none in my part of the country that I've seen. I think it to be more of a northern plant. Cute TV watching companion@!

Love summer camp for plants! I have planted native ginger the last two years. I got it from The Prairie Nursery online. It is doing well... Michelle

I think you guys are getting much more rain that we are here in the Madison area. That's weird because we aren't far apart. I've had to water my garden from time to time to supplement. No complaints, really. Most of the plants haven't needed any extra watering, just the veggie/flower garden and the potted plants. One of my friends has that Campanula, and it took over a section of her garden. But she's OK with that in an enclosed area, and they sure are pretty. I'd be worried about it escaping cultivation in a wild area. Gosh, it would be pretty in a pot, though. That photo of the wren on the statue is cute!

We love the kitty quotes and of course the adorable tuxie too! Your garden is so beautiful! We haven't had rain in weeks and none in sight plus now we're going to be 100 for a couple of days. The garden is suffering but hopefully we don't lose anything. We need to plant more in our new areas but are going to wait until fall or even next spring when hopefully it's raining again!

I have always liked campanula ... it does spread well, and it's such a lovely colour isn't it.

All the best Jan
