Seeing things through new eyes

As I've gotten more interested in photography, I find myself seeing things differently, or maybe more clearly. I've always appreciated the beauty of a sunset, the intricate patterns of clouds, and the changing light at dusk and dawn. Now I spend more time studying these things. Composing photographs in my mind even if the camera isn't there. I notice tiny drops of dew on delicate flower petals. Mentally I wonder how best to capture the prisms of reflected light. I look at things from different angles viewing the changes in shadows and light and deciding which will give the best contrast. Reflections in pools of water have become treasures to be marveled at.

I'm always looking up. Looking for colors and shapes. Seeking beams of light shining like spotlights through clouds.

(Photos: The sun sets at the end of my road as I arrive home from work. Ominous clouds roil above the pasture.)

So glad I could finally get to your blog. Both Prairie Rose and I were having trouble. Anyway...lovely posts and your photography skills are amazing. Hope the heavy rains missed you.

Thank you, beckie. Someone else mentioned trouble getting thru. I think I pushed a wrong button or made a wrong selection somewhere along the line. Duh. Well, it won't be the first dumb thing I've done...or the last.

Sky to the west getting blacker as we speak. They are predicting 3-4 inches. We are probably all going to get hammered with another storm.

Thanks for adding the link to your blog--I've been trying to find you!
Beautiful photos of the sky, and I enjoy your choice of poetry. Both the Yeats and the Frost poems were new to me (or at least I don't remember them). We do have several things in common--I am a mystery lover, too, and, believe it or not, I also have a cat named Toby. He will be featured in a post one of these days when I can find all my pictures of him:)

Hope you didn't get the storm that was threatened.

My Toby is quite a character. I'll have to tell his story sometime soon.

I just ordered three more mysteries from amazon. Well, you really can't call Janet Evanovich's books mysteries, but they do make me laugh out loud.

The storms are coming. I can see the sky getting darker in the west. Keep your fingers crossed--we don't need anymore bad storms or heavy rains.

Those are beautiful pictures and something tells me you always appreciated Mother Nature's wonders, with or without the camera.

Thank you for stopping by, Tina. I enjoyed your site.

BTW, I love the laughing dog photo you are using;)

Thanks! BJ is my constant companion. He is always smiling (like most goldens), but if you look closely you will see HIS constant companion, the ball in the mouth. It is so much less shocking for me seeing his picture, rather than mine. Nice meeting you and your farmhouse sounds heavenly!

Lovely blog indeed. Thanks for stopping in to see me. Now I'm off to go and look at all of your wonderful posts. I'm sitting on my front porch with a soft breeze blowing. Finally, relaxing after a long day.
Hugs,
Rose

Tina, I couldn't see the ball:) I've never met a golden I didn't like. Wonderful breed!

Rose, thank you for stopping by for a visit. Oh, that porch sounds wonderful. Tall lemonade, cushy chair, good book, ahhhh...

Thank you for your compliment on the blog of our drawing and painting club. In summer we used to go out with friends in the neighbourhood of Zutphen in Holland to do some painting.
I like your photographs of clouds. They are every impressive. You have more massive Clouds there where you live. Clouds in Holland are differtent because of our low lands and lots of water reflecting the light back to the bottom of the clouds.

I love your photography especially the nature ones.

Wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I am trying to become a better photo lady, but I sometimes find my biggest problem is the lighting. Either too dark or too light. Practice, practice, I know.

Hi Connie. Lightening is a major concern for me too. Don't you think most of the problem is with the camera sensors? Then again it is our problem because we have to overcome the things the camera cannot deal with.

Thanks for stopping by to visit me. I will be back to your site to see what's new.
