Thank you

I would like to express my heartfelt thank you to all American veterans and the men and women serving in Americas Armed Forces.

Look around you, everything you see is due to a great extent to the Americans who have fought and sometimes died for our great country.

And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice,
And I don't want to die for you,
But if dying's asked of me,
I'll bear that cross with honor,
'Cause freedom don't come free.
I'm an American soldier.

When liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right,
I'm out here on the front lines, so sleep in peace tonight.
I'm an American Soldier

~Toby Kieth/Chuck Cannon

Wonderful Veteran's Day post! I love the Normal Rockwell paintings, and the lyrics by Toby Keith and Chuck Cannon. Thank you so much for this tribute to our soldiers--out there working hard to keep us free!
And thank you for your comment on my post about my husband! He really appreciated all the comments when I showed him.

I am felting today.
I do want to do some crafting later with the dried felt.

Hi Darla, thank you for stopping by and adding you comments.

Tina, I love the song too. It makes me kind of teary when I really think about the words.

Bird Lady, thank you.

Tile Lady, you don't need to thank me, we owe your husband and all the vets more than we can ever repay.

Hi Q, thank for stopping in to say howdy. Have a great day with your crafting.

Marnie, a lovely tribute to our American soldiers and Veterans. At the VA Clinic where I take my Dad, There is always adigital sign flashing the words, 'Thank a Veteran!' Ans so we should.

I enjoyed your post. My fil was a veteran, and was the director of our county's Veteran Service Center. My mil loved Norman Rockwell. This has brought back memories of them.

A very thoughtful post, Marnie ... As I remembered the holiday today, I thought more than once about the poem I learned in grade school (I'm sure you know it) In Flanders Field. I know, that one's more associated with Armistice Day (which is also today) at the end of WWI, so I guess that again betrays my (to some) questionable European-centric sensibilities. :-)

I took my personal veterans to dinner last night. They told me some hair raising stories and we had a great time. Unbelievable what they went thru fighting overseas.

Hi Sue and Rose, I could just stare at those Norman Rockwell prints forever. What stories they tell. I get lost in them. He was one-of-a-kind.

IVG, my Dad still calls it Armistice Day. Guess we have just broadened it to include Vietnam and now these recent wars.

The classic Norman Rockwell prints pair beautifully with Toby Keiths American Soldier lyrics Marnie. We do owe our veterans much appreciation. You've posted a wonderful tribute to that.

You are welcome..from a Veteran and her Veteran husband. Both our dads were veterans as were our grandfathers. There isn't a family out there who isn't affected. I am drawn in by your writing style and have enjoyed looking around your blog.

Those Rockwell paintings capture the happiness and sorrow of the time and times. I like the first one that takes you back in history. Beautiful post!
